What to expect
-
𖦹
We begin with a “goof-up” to channel that after-school burst of energy before our warm-up.
-
☁︎
We warm up to a lively Irish tune (or We Don’t Talk About Bruno), working on our technique before our across the floor drills.
-
☆
We circle up and share our names and a fun fact (favorite color, what we did over the weekend, etc.) to connect while stretching.
-
♬
We learn exciting new choreography and traditional céilí, with a jam sesh (with instruments or rainbow scarves) in between.
-
♡︎
We finish with an opportunity for creative expression: e.g. team improv challenges, arts & crafts, etc.
-
✿
Then it’s time for…stickers! (and whatever other surprises are up Lucky the Leprechaun’s sleeve!)
FAQs
-
-A full water bottle
-A snack
-Comfortable athletic clothing
-Long hair should be tied back
-Socks, ballet slippers, or jazz shoes are just fine for Céilí Club. Dancers may wear tennis shoes if they need the extra support (the more form-fitting, the better).

If you’re interested in purchasing Irish dance shoes for your dancer, I’d recommend the following:
Antonio Pacelli Split Sole Ava Pumps for girls (typically worn with poodle socks).
Rutherford Reel Shoes for boys (typically worn with standard gym socks in class and black dress socks for performances).
They use UK sizing, so use this size guide. Intermediate/advanced dancers aim for a slight toe curl in their softshoes, but for beginners I recommend a very snug, second skin fit with toes touching the end (like rock climbing shoes) because they will stretch. They have a 90-day return policy if you're able to order a couple sizes to try out.

Yes! We will go in order of difficulty, starting with softshoe dances and working our way up to hardshoe dances and traditional set dances. Dancers will have the option to compete in local feiseanna (Irish dance competitions) in the solo and/or group céilí dancing categories if that is of interest! Recreational and competitive goals are equally celebrated in Céilí Club.

Yes! Dancers are welcome to a free trial class. Tuition will be due before their next class should they decide to continue on with us. You will receive an email from me after the trial class with the first month’s prorated rate.
Please fill out the enrollment form before the trial class.

Céilí (pronounced /KAY-lee/) is a traditional Irish folk dance performed at social gatherings that dates back to the 1500's. All of these dances are choreographed for large groups and are meant to build a sense of teamwork and connection! Teamwork is a very important pillar of my program so I make sure to incorporate a little céilí dancing into every class!
